Would you be willing to adopt a cat that might have a shortened life span? Poor Carbine has tested positive for feline leukemia, but w e just know there is a person out there that would be willing to love this sweet boy for the time that he has left. Cats that are infected will feline leukemia typically remain healthy for 2 or 3 years after exposure and then eventually succumb to a FeLV-related disease such as lymphoma, leukemia, or an untreatable infection because of a weakened immune system. 15% of FeLV+ cats do, however, make it past the 4 year mark. Carbine is barely more than a kitten, and in all likelihood contracted this disease from his mom before he was even born. Feline Leukemia is not contagious to people or dogs, but can be transmitted to other cats by sharing litter boxes and food bowls. Therefore, Carbine will need a home where he is the only cat, or a home with other feline leukemia cats. Please consider offering a home to this sweet boy.
